Things to do in Montego Bay
Tryall is blessed with a naturally beautiful estate of over 2,200 acres. Our Environmental Manager leads tours to explore the birds of Tryall – and you will see most species of bird to be found in Jamaica and a historical tour that unveils the numerous historical landmarks throughout the estate. ATV safari
Exploring Jamaica on a four-wheel drive ATV is both exciting and entertaining. Easy to ride, your ATV will take you deep into tropical forests and enable you to see parts of the country you never knew existed.
All tours are guided, so there is no danger of becoming lost.
Bamboo rafting
Drifting down the languidly flowing Martha Brae on a bamboo raft is a serendipitous experience impossible to forget with many returning again and again.
Black River Safari and YS Falls
Travel up the Black River to observe crocodiles – made famous in the James Bond film “Live and Let Die” and see the mangrove swamps before cooling off in the bracing waters of YS Falls.
Deep-sea sport fishing
Catching your dinner takes on a new meaning when you are after the likes of tuna, marlin and swordfish. Board a deep sea fishing boat and head out into the deep waters. The crew knows the best spots to fish from and with the latest equipment on board the best boats (including a Bertram, one of the greatest fishing boats ever built) you will be assured of an exhilarating day on the water.
Dunns’ River Falls
Climb this 600ft long terraced waterfall as part of a human chain that ascends to the top of one of Jamaica’s most spectacular natural features. You will get wet, but that’s part of the fun!

Flight of the White Witch zip line
This is one of Jamaica’s most spectacular zip line experiences, criss-crossing the historic Rose Hall estate at heights of up to 1200ft above sea level. Seven zip lines and two rappel descents of up to 65ft provide plenty of excitement and thrills.

Watch the sun go down over the Caribbean on board this intimate, peaceful cruise taking in Jamaica’s stunning coastline.
Reggae catamaran cruise
It is impossible visit Jamaica without experiencing reggae, and there is no better way to enjoy the rhythm of our most famous export than while cruising the Caribbean. Learn to dance to reggae, stop to snorkel and take in the views. Perfect.
River tubing
Navigate the Great River’s rapids with little more between you and the water than an inflatable ring. The proximity to the water makes tubing very exciting, and the river’s changing personality means you will be gliding through relaxing calm waters one moment and plunging into adrenaline-charged rapids the next.
Rose Hall Great House
Rose Hall Great House dates from the 18th century and is reputed to be haunted by the spirit of Annie Palmer who murdered three husbands before being murdered herself by the slaves.
Appleton Rum Estate, the Black River and YS Falls
Combine three of Jamaica’s finest attractions in one trip. Visit the Appleton Estate’s rum distillery to discover how Jamaica’s most popular rum is made before taking a boat trip up the Black River to find crocodiles, followed by an afternoon exploring the natural playground of YS Falls.
Kayaking and ziplining
Here, two exhilarating sports are combined in one trip. Begin with a kayaking trip down river, tackling rapids and fast water and then ascend into the forest tree canopy for a zip line flight through the treetops. Finish the day with a swim in the river.
Ziplining
This is the most exciting way to see Jamaica’s beautiful countryside. Clip in to the zip line and glide from tree to tree on wires, high up in the forest canopy. It is thrilling and delightful in equal measure, and there is no better way to get an understanding of how Jamaica’s delicate tropical forests work as an ecosystem.
Mountain Valley Rafting
Glide down the Great River on a bamboo raft, first introduced to Jamaica by Errol Flynn. He would entertain friends such as Noel Cowards and Elizabeth Taylor on rafts, and this tour is an opportunity to recreate their experiences.
Rockland’s Bird Sanctuary
The best place to see a huge variety of Jamaica’s colorful birdlife. Native and migrant birds flock to Rocklands, and many will feed from your hands – including hummingbirds and the Jamaican Mango.
Visit Negril
Jamaica is relaxed, but Negril takes it to another level. Known as the Capital of Casual, Negril is not only easygoing but very pretty (there are no traffic lights) and has one of Jamaica’s finest beaches. Great bars, restaurants and friendly locals make Negril a must-visit location.
Mayfield Falls and Mineral Springs
Smaller than some of Jamaica’s other, better-known waterfall cascades, Mayfield is also much quieter and calmer. Hike up through the 21 pools to the cascade at the top, which functions as a natural Jacuzzi. There is also a great restaurant on site.
Greenwood Great House
A beautifully preserved Great House which was built by the Barrett family in 1800. Greenwood retains much of its original furniture and furnishings.
Lethe Village
Experience the charm and simplicity of life in rural Jamaica when you visit the traditional village of Lethe. A tractor-drawn trailer (known locally as a jitney) will transport you through the forest to Lethe, where you will meet friendly locals and go fishing to catch your lunch.
